I used to love sleep.

Stress dreams I've been having:

Sorting through different stamps, trying to figure out how much postage is and pasting a half dozen gift tag sized stamps on an envelope to make it add up. (I had to google the cost of postage this morning. 42 cents.)

Trying to save a hamster's life. It pooped a lot.

Defending my love for New England to someone who was trying to make me move. I was dramatically insisting that I could never live anywhere else. This? Is not even remotely true.

There was more, but I forget. Probably for the better. These have all been taking place in the hour of sleep I grab here and there since I've been a raging insomniac all week.

Someone suggested melatonin. Any other ideas that will help me chill out and sleep? I'm off coffee, just have a cup of tea in the morning. Talk to me about your drugs, people. I'm already BFF with red wine.

Happy one year that I've been fired from chamber!

Too bad I'm once again mostly unemployed.

And still single.

And living at my mom's.

Baby Jesus has GOT to throw me a bone, right?

Whatevs. I call this... starting from scratch.

I've decided I'm not pissed at Massachusetts. I'm pissed at the last year. You'll get a clusterfuck in review entry when I'm up for it.

Tonight Krostin and I drank wine and shared cheesecake in the very café in which Tom brought Meg a rose in You've Got Mail. Loves it.

Today I decided to apply to a job in New York and a job in Chicago. One is in audience services. One is in publishing. We'll see what happens next.

Got a job you think I'd be perfect for? Send it my way. I can write, edit, schedule, and organize up a storm. I stage manage, house manage, lay a mean bald cap, and enjoy being sweetly bossy. I also make a mean grilled cheese, but that doesn't really apply since I generally suck at food service. Clearly, geography isn't much of an issue.

Help a lady out. Especially you local folk if you don't want me to peace out of Mass.

Here we are. November 30th. I hit 26 out of 30 days in November. Not bad. I'm going to try again for December, if anything because I'd like to start writing some stuff with some substance.

Can we PLEASE discuss how I spent the whole beginning of the month numbering entries #/31? 31? Why didn't anyone comment on the whole November having 30 days thing? Jeeze.

Even after my post last night, I was still up until 3am. I've been pretty pleasant today, except for when the dog ate my dinner that would have originally been my lunch had I had the time to eat it.

I sucked down close to a box of Velveeta mac 'n' cheese tonight. Not stress eating at all. I'm watching the TLC special on the 750lb man to scare myself straight.

I swear to god, I have feelings. I just don't know how to write with them anymore.

Ugh.

Aside from the one show that I called today, I was the picture of slothfullness. Just enough so that I felt a tiny bit bad about it. A little, dare I say, lazy. And it was far past that "well I deserve to be lazy" lazy. I
Did not go to the gym. I did not Shred. The only steps I logged were those to and from the fridge, because on top of it all, I was a bottomless pit. This needs to stop asap. Tight jeans and late November spells nothing but bad news by the time January gets here.

Staring into the fridge because my tummy is not full of stew. I'll spare you the gory details about how I'm learning that Yaz does a body good.

Today so far...

Decided to give taking the bus a try because I'm all in a huff about the T's hike in parking fees.

Catch bus to Sullivan. Bus sits in traffic and arrived at the station 5 minutes later than scheduled.

On bus, get call from Theatre Manager. There's been an explosion downtown. No power in the area. I should still head in in the event that the power come back on quickly, and to place a sign on the door for inquiring customers. Make arrangements to be let in building.

Wait for T. And wait. And wait. Many cold, angry people on platform. Poor off duty T worker is just there to take the train, but is being harassed. Something about Wellington being out of service. Train to Forrest Hills passes through without taking customers and a man leans out from the platform to give it the finger. Genius.

Get update from [info]revelry13. Explosion was a manhole fire. No one hurt, but 1,000+ customers are without electricity and it will most likely be several hours until power is restored.

Finally get to work and the theatre is cold dark and creepy. Hunt for flashlights. Flashlights which create shadows which make everything creepier.

More phone calls, more speculation, about to head out and spend the day with a friend when the kind NSTAR man tells us that we should be good to go in 45 minutes. I didn't think there would be any way we'd be out of this before 3pm. Prove me wrong, NSTAR, prove me wrong!

UPDATE: In the time it took me to go get a bagel and tea, we were up and running again. I eat my words, NSTAR.

I was singing Christmas carols most of the way home from the Cape tonight.

I already bought a holiday scented candle.

I'm dying to decorate.

Screw the after Thanksgiving rule. I'm getting festive early this year!

They'll just keep reminding me that I'm a day off, and while I haven't been perfect at this whole posting every day thing, I'm pretty happy with the job I'm doing. One of my goals is shaking off my crippling perfectionist habits, remember?

After work today I went to Trident with my friend Mike so we could pick out our matching copies of War and Peace! We're reading it together in December. It's probably the dorkiest project I've ever embarked on, and I couldn't be more excited. Unless you count my excitement over going to Chicago in three weeks to see Matt and Kristen's new home. I might be a little more excited about that. They should block all discount travel sites on my work computer. It would be for my own good. I bought this ticket directly through Southwest, and it was a total steal. If you're looking to do any travel in the next couple of months then you should go check it out. They're having a winter sale that ends tomorrow.

After the bookstore (where I bought three- THREE! more books than I should have), we went a couple of blocks over to Bukowski Tavern for dinner. Four words: white trash cheese dip. I'm convinced it was that coupled with my hot dog (ok, and maybe the tasty, tasty beer) that gave me the edge in winning Scrabble later on back at Mike's.

New York was amazing, but now that I'm home I already feel like I'm in a rut.

Possible roommate just told me cats make her eyes itchy, after we seemed compatible on a dozen other roommate levels. Back to square one.

I'd put my head through the wall, but I have to go call a show.

My week is over on a Friday! WEIRD.

Tomorrow, I'm off to NYC until Monday. The city is slowly creeping back into its home away from home status. Im staying with Kristin, my sister from another mister and will hopefully see some other lovely people while I'm in town. Jeremy Piven in Mamet's Speed-the-Plow is a definite along with a visit to Ellen's Stardust Diner, Sunday brunch, and coffee at a used bookstore in SoHo. The Backstreet Boys may also make an appearance in the itinerary. I'll keep you posted.

Nooooooooooooooo! I forgot to post last night! Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

I suck.

And I'll carry on, despite the suckage.

I don't have to be at the theatre until 4, so I've been sitting on the couch in my fleece pants and a college sweatshirt watching DRVd episodes of Gossip Girl all day. It's pretty gray out and I really don't have anything pressing to do.

I'd be totally excited about working tonight if it were a single, but I'm not so much in the mood for a double.

It keeps throwing me off that the commercials in these episodes are from before the election, which already feels like a lifetime ago.

Oh, crap. It's already 2pm.
